A rare early 19th century American imprint, entitled: "The African Servant. An Authentic Narrative," authored by Legh Richmond (1772-1827) a reverend in the Church of England, Seventh Edition, printed by Flagg & Gould, Andover, Mass. for the American Tract Society, paper wraps, 16pp. 8vo., with engraved portrait seated black servant sitting on a rock. This "authentic narrative" recalls how a sea captain came to see Richmond in order that he could get his slave whom he had recently freed baptized into the Catholic faith.
