War-date Confederate Prisoner of War Autograph Letter Signed by William Propst (1831-1919) 57th North Carolina Infantry, POW at Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, and Hatchers Run, WIA at Gettysburg, 1pp. quarto, Johnson’s Island, Ohio, April 6, 1864, and reads in part: “...I have got a very sore arm...The sore is as large as the palm of my hand....I hope and pray this will come to your hand and find you and my dear daughters Mary & Alice & son all in the land of the living and in good health. Also Columbus & your servants...The health of the officers of the 57th Regt is pretty good at present...My friends in old Cabarrus thought that I would turn traitor to my country and my God by taken the oath to Abraham’s Government. No never...” Very good condition.
