War-date Autograph Letter Signed “E.J. Allen” 1pp. quarto, Camp Montgomery, near Corinth, Mississippi, July 15, 1862, addressed to J. DeWolf and reads in part: “...I have talked with Captain Basto with reference to a discharge for you. We can see no way for you to get it except you go to Chicago to the suregon at Camp Douglass and get a certificate of disability...” Fine condition.
