Autograph Letter Signed by Captain Samuel Lamb, 1pp. quarto, Office Chief Quarter Master, District of Wilmington, June 1, 1865, addressed to Lt. Col. Boyd in Raleigh, North Carolina, it reads in part: “...I have the honor to state that there will be required for the present month one hundred thousand (100,000) feet of boards for coffins; if the present average mortaility continues, also twenty thousand (20,000) feet lumber to build a fence to enclose the burial ground of our soldiers...” Fine condition.
