War-date Union soldier Autograph Letter Signed by E.B. Harvey, 4pp. quarto, Milltown, July 11, 1862, and reads in part: “... I want to growl when I see the loyal north being populated with invalids and cripples manufactured out of robust men sent to do niggers work in the niggers native swamps and native air, while the native nigger stands yearning for liberty to toil, asking no other recompense but assured protection against our deluded fellow citizens. This is wholesale murder. Our administration have for fifteen months being trembling in mortal agony before a score of traitors in disguise, who sit in Congress and make conditions which could never have been applied to any man unless his fidelity to his country was questioned....” Much more. Very good condition.
