Pair of Union general Autograph Letters Signed, includes: WILSON, Thomas (1832-1901) Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General. An 1853 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, he was serving as a 1st Lieutenant in the 5th United States Regular Infantry at the start of the Civil War. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant Colonel of Volunteers, and was assigned as the Chief Commissary of Subsistence for the Army of the Potomac. He was brevetted Brigadier General, US Volunteers and Brigadier General, US Regular Army on March 13, 1865 for "faithful and meritorious services during the war". He retired from the Army with the rank of Colonel in 1896. Autograph Letter Signed “Thomas Wilson” 1pp. octavo, May 11, 1898, pertaining to an invitation to accompany H.R. Benjamin and Colonel Calhoun “about presenting the Flag” Very good condition...plus; OLIVER, Paul (1831-1912) was an American explosives inventor, American Civil War Union Army captain and staff officer who was appointed to the brevet grade of brigadier general and Medal of Honor recipient. War-date Autograph Letter Signed “Paul A. Oliver” Capt & Actg. Provost, 1pp. octavo, September 7, 1864, addressed to Captain Beckwith, pertaining to an order of goods. Fine condition.
