Nice group of nineteen (19) Autographs, Autograph Letters Signed and Typed Letters Signed from prominent business personalities, including many Rockefellers. Includes: ROCKEFELLER, John Davison (1874-1960) was an American financier and philanthropist who was a prominent member of the Rockefeller family. He was the only son among the five children of Standard Oil co-founder John D. Rockefeller and the father of the five famous Rockefeller brothers. In biographies, he is commonly referred to as "Junior" to distinguish him from his father, "Senior". His sons included Nelson Rockefeller, the 41st Vice President of The United States; Winthrop Rockefeller, governor of Arkansas; and banker David Rockefeller. Pair of clipped Autographs one from a TLS “John D. Rockefeller Jr.” and the other boldly signed “John D. Rockefeller. Both fine condition....plus; du PONT, Alfred Irénée (1864-1935) was an American industrialist, financier, philanthropist and a member of the influential Du Pont family. Large Autograph on card “Alfred Irenee du Pont” with place and date. Fine condition....plus; du PONT, Thomas Coleman (1863-1930) was an American engineer and politician, from Greenville, Delaware. He was President of E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company, and a member of the Republican Party who served parts of two terms as United States Senator from Delaware. Clipped signature from a TLS “Coleman du Pont.” Fine condition...plus; du PONT, Pierre Samuel (1870-1954) was an American entrepreneur, businessman, philanthropist and member of the prominent du Pont family. Signed newspaper picture of himself “Pierre S. du Pont.” Fine condition...plus; ROCKEFELLER, Jr., William Avery (1841-1922) was an American businessman and financier. He was a co-founder of Standard Oil along with his older brother John Davison Rockefeller (1839–1937). He was also a prominent member of the Rockefeller family. Autograph Letter Signed “William Rockefeller” 1pp. folio, Richmondville, May 14, 1869, and reads in part: “... I have one favor to ask of you and that is not to buy Lehman’s skins unless you can buy them at a bargain...” Fine condition....plus; ROCKEFELLER III, John Davison(1906-1978) was a philanthropist and third-generation member of the prominent Rockefeller family. He was the eldest son of the philanthropists John D. Rockefeller Jr. and Abby Aldrich Rockefeller. Typed Letter Signed “John D. Rockefeller”, 1pp. quarto, June 7, 1977, pertaining to the receipt of an address by his grandfather for the archives. He was a prominent third-generation member of the Rockefeller family, being the fourth child of John Davison Rockefeller Jr. and Abigail Greene "Abby" Aldrich. Typed Letter Signed, “Laurance S. Rockefeller” 1pp. octavo, July 21, 1978, pertaining to the death of his brother John. With cover. He was the oldest living member of the Rockefeller family and family patriarch from August 2004[2] until his death in March 2017. Rockefeller was a son of John D. Rockefeller Jr. and Abby Aldrich Rockefeller, and a grandson of John D. Rockefeller and Laura Spelman Rockefeller. Photograph Signed “David Rockefeller” with inscription. Signed in margin. Pratt was a pioneer of the U.S. petroleum industry, and established his kerosene refinery Astral Oil Works in Brooklyn, New York. He then lived with his growing family in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn. He recruited Henry H. Rogers into his business, forming Charles Pratt and Company in 1867, and seven years later Pratt and Rogers agreed to join John D. Rockefeller's Standard Oil. Clipped Signature “Chas. Pratt.” Fine condition...plus; ROSENWALD, Lessing Julius (1891-1979) was an American businessman, a collector of rare books and art, a chess patron, and a philanthropist. Large signed card “Lessing J. Rosenwald” with cover addressed to Boy Scout Troops #326. Fine condition...plus; ROGERS, Henry Huttleston (1840-1909) was an American Industrialist and financier. A descendant of the original Mayflower Pilgrims, he made his fortune in the oil refining business, becoming a leader at Standard Oil. He played a major role in numerous corporations and business enterprises, in the gas industry, copper, and railroads. Clipped signature from a TLS, “H H Rogers.” Fine condition....plus; ROSENWALD, Julius (1862-1932) was an American businessman and philanthropist. He is best known as a part-owner and leader of Sears, Roebuck and Company, and for establishing the Rosenwald Fund, which donated millions in matching funds to support the education of African American children in the rural South, as well as other philanthropic causes in the first half of the 20th century. He was also the principal founder and backer for the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, to which he gave more than $5 million and served as President from 1927 to 1932.
