Pair of war-date Autograph Letters Signed pertaining to Elbridge Taylor, 2nd Massachusetts Infantry, who was captured at Winchester and died as a prisoner of war in Richmond. Includes letter from his mother Abby Taylor to Reverend Alvord “can you give me any information about my son Elbridge G. Taylor 2nd Mass Vol. Co I he has been missing since last May. We received a letter from Henry C. Ames stating that he died in Richmond on Aug. the 16 last...” and letter from J.W. Alvord on November 17, 1862, “...Taylor was wounded and taken last May at Winchester, can find nothing further...” Fine condition.
