Lee, and reads "To avoid the necessity of executing Criminals on Sunday it is desired that sentences of death be published to the Brigades in such days as will prevent this. As sentences are to be executed seven days after their publication to the Brigade, unless there are special reasons for the contrary course, the day of publication can always be so selected as to avoid this…" Signed at bottom by James Hays (1839-1888) Lt.
