Smith an attorney in Washington, and reads in part: "...You are respectfully informed that the claim in favor of Wm. S. Lovelace of Bollinger Co. Missouri, for corn, horses, cattle, etc. stated at $1,750, is not allowed...The Quartermaster General has considered this case and decides that he is unable to certify, as required by act of July 4, 1864, section 300 'A'...Revised Statues U.S., that he is convinced of the loyalty of the claimant, or that the claim is just…" Fine.
