War-date Confederate Autograph Letter Signed by General States Rights Gist, 1pp. quarto, April 11, 1861, on "Adj. & Insp. Genl's Office, Charleston, S.C." letterhead, addressed to Governor Pickens, and reads in part: "...In accordance with your instructions, I have the honor to report that the 1st, 2d, and 6th Regiments of S.C. Volunteers have been ordered to and are arriving in this city. The 5th Regiment has been ordered to rendezvous in Columbia without delay. The 3d, 4th 7th & 8th Regiments have been ordered to hold themselves in readiness for instant service, under a call from the Sec'ty of War of the Confederate States..." with attached list of the commanding officers of the regiments aforementioned. Fine condition.
