A good 1865 United States "Proclamation Oath" document, partly-printed, 1p. 4to., Perry Co., Alabama, August 18, 1865, issued by the justice of the peace, J. B. Shrives to Carlos Reese, Jr., stating, in part: "I, Carlos Reese, Jr. do solemnly swear…I will faithfully support, protect & defend the Constitution of the United States and Union of the States thereafter; and that I will, in like manner…support all Laws and Proclamations which have been made during the existing Rebellion with reference to the Emancipation of Slaves…Carlos Reese Jr…".
