War-date Union soldier Autograph Letter Signed by William H. Nelson, 13th U.S. Infantry, taken POW at Jackson, Mississippi, July 11, 1863, 1pp. octavo, "Hotel Libby" January 4, 1864, and reads in part: "...I have not had any word from 'America' for some time but there is a mail down stairs which we will get soon and then I will be one of the many anxious for letters...the Commandants has issued an order that the prisoners may on every Christmas and New Year's night keep lights in the Prison until 11 1/2 oc..." Very good condition.
