PARKER, Theodore (1810-1860) was an American transcendentalist and reforming minister of the Unitarian church. A reformer and abolitionist, his words and popular quotations would later inspire speeches by Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr. Autograph Letter Signed "Theo. Parker" 1pp. quarto, Boston, May 9, 1854, addressed to Mr. Baker and reads in part: "...a death has occurred among my friends which prevents my going to N.Y...." Fine condition.
