War-date Autograph Letter Signed "M.F. Lynch" 2pp. quarto, on "Naval Commandant's Office, Wilmington, N.C. May 26, 1863, addressed to Commander J.W. Cooke, and reads in part: "...Proceed forthwith to Edwards Ferry, upon the Roanoke, have the floating battery towed up convenient for work, and superintend in person the fastening of rail road iron upon her. The iron will be sent to you as rapidly as possible and an officer, as soon as can be spared, will be detailed to assist you. I have applied to the Department for a competent person who understands fastening the rail road iron, and hope to succeed and speedily send him to you..." More. Fine condition.
