A complete and authentic issue of the Philadelphia Inquirer, August 29, 1862, 8pp., disbound, fine. Front page displays a rare illustration of "THE REBEL GUN-BOAT 'ARKANSAS" displaying her CSA flag, with 7 inches of description below. Additionally, there are dozens of war reports including "Two Female Soldiers" ...CSS Arkansas was an ironclad ram of the Confederate States Navy named after the State of Arkansas. Arkansas is most noted for her actions in the Western Theater, when she steamed through a United States Navy fleet at Vicksburg on 15 July 1862.
