1862-Dated Civil War Model 1861 Whitney Navy Percussion Rifle, (a.k.a. Plymouth Rifle), Choice Very Fine. Rare (TYPE 1) U.S. Civil War Period Whitney Model 1861 Navy Percussion Rifle, (a.k.a. "Plymouth Rifle") Only about 10,000 guns were completed by 1864. It has a 34", .69 caliber rifled barrel with a long range rear sight. Its all steel barrel and furniture has scattered areas of darker surface toning. The lock has an attractive large American Eagle-Shield-Flag motif, also marked "U.S. / WHITNEY-VILLE" and the added date "1862". Stock is solid with some very light scratches and dings from years of actual use in service. Serial Number 1294. Overall, in nice condition and remains in good mechanical working order.
