A good war-date Shenandoah Valley young lady's letter, 4pp. 8vo., written by Bessie M. Rea, Winchester, Va., Feb. 28, 1863, to her sister concerning local news, including, in part: "àthe smallpox has broken out in FarmvilleàMr. LaMonte was obliged to move his school to DanvilleàNenie Kiger and Gertie Coffroth are trying to get to Baltimore to go to Brook's schoolàI took Captain Shepherd's Quick Step for my music lesson this eveningàBessie M. Rea." Much more content. Also, included is the original postmarked "paid" transmittal envelope, addressed: "Miss. Nannie J. Rea, Catonsville, Baltimore County, Maryland." Both near fine.
