FITZHUGH, Norman Richard (1831-1915) as General J.E.B. Stuart's Adjutant General in U.S. Civil War. Was captured August 18, 1862 and was celled next to Belle Boyd at Old Capitol Prison in Washington. He was exchanged 9/21/1862 Aiken's Landing, VA, for James D Potter 38th NY.Document Signed "N.R. Fitzhugh" on 1pp., manuscript circular, August 1, 1864, in small part "By instructions of the chief QM ANV, I am directed to say that all Quartermasters of the Cavalry will immediately turn in to me all QM funds on hand .... Immediately upon receipt of such balances, a certificate for your Regimental Brigade ..."
