A great Gettysburg related Union military document issued by Brig. Gen. James C. Rice [WIA Gettysburg] and Chief Signal Officer, Captain Eminel P. Halstead who helped direct Abner Doubleday's movements at the Lutheran Seminary on the First Day of the battle of Gettysburg and even directed old War of 1812 veteran, John Burns, into the fight, "Hd. Qrs., 1st Division, 1st Corps, Sept. 5, 1863," being General Orders, No. 92, reading, in part: "àeach Brigade commander [should] provide himself with a Bugler who will arrange a suitable call to designate the Brigade to which he is attachedàeach regimental commander [the same]àall calls which are general àwill be preceded by the division callàat Grand Guard mountingàthe Division Bugler will sound the Division call at half past eight o'clock followed by the 'assembly' which the brigades will take up and sound their brigade callsàby command of Brig. Gen. J. C. Rice, sig'd. E[minel] P. Halstead, Capt. a. a. g." Overall near fine.
