March 7, 1795-Dated, Historic Blue Laws Content Manuscript Document Signed, “John Stafford overseer of the Poor,” Warwick, Rhode Island, Very Fine. This great Colonial legal content Manuscript Document measures about 7” x 7.25” being mounted at its corners to a 7.25” x 7.75” heavier sheet for prior display. This Document written and Signed by “John Stafford overseer of the Poor”. This Colonial “Blue Laws” based Legal Document reads: "Sir I am Credibly informed that Almey Coggeshall of Warwick Single woman was lately delivered of a Bastard Child Born in Said Warwick, which Child is now living and is likely to become Chargeable to the Town. Therefore I request you to take such methods as the Law directs to indemnify the Town of Warwick from all such Cost that hath or may infer toward the Support and maintenance of said Child / To Benj. Barton Esq (Justice of the Peace) - (Signed) John Stafford overseer of the Poor - Warwick 7th March 1795”.
