c. 1775 Revolutionary War Era, Side Knife made from a forged iron spear head together with its original leather sheath. Its blade measures 6" x 1.75" having an even natural patina and the wooden handle measures 4.75" to an overall 11.25" in length. Rarely seen decorative devices have been implemented, as the wooden handle has been carefully Hand-carved with ten runs of "diamond" shape pattern devices which runs from the guard to the knob at the end acting as a grip. Its Iron band to keep the handle from splitting still intact. The leather Sheath is nicely Hand-stitched protecting about 5" of the blade. Lacking a small outer piece of the wooden guard portion on one side not integral to function, minor splits from use to handle. Possibly could have also been improvised for use as a plug bayonet. Rarely seen with such integral, skillfully carved decorative design devices and a nice item for display.
