Stock Certificate, 8" x 4-3/4" issued December 16, 1863 for 1 share to C.S. Mueller and signed by President Henry Hart. The certificate is lacking about 1" to the right side. Company had steamers Flora (I), General Whiting. The Flora (I) had 11 successful runs and the General Whiting had 4. At the end of the war, company president Henry Hart fled to New York with the company's assets. When stock holders tried to reclaim their investment, Hart said that since the war was over he could not be held responsible for a business that was illegal under United States Law. Rare.
