1861 $5 Bank of the State of South Carolina, Charleston, SC, Very Fine. The central vignette is of one of the classic vignettes from the obsolete era, the "Sweet Potato Dinner." This is a very skillful rendition by the ABNCo and just below the vignette in very small type are the words, "Gen. Marion inviting a British officer to dinner." The Swamp Fox outfoxed the British time and time again in the Lower Colonies.
