A good Confederate officer's letter (illustrated with an owl), 3pp. 8vo., written by 2nd Lieut. William M. Cochran, Co. F, 36th Georgia Infantry, "Camp 36th Ga., [n. p., but Chattanooga, Tenn.], Oct. 20, 1863," to his cousin Eliza Jane Hardman, reading, in part: "-we are on the march to Knoxville - we are going up there to forage - many of the boys are sick - I seen Brother John the other day - I am trying to get him to my company - he is very ambitious to come to my company - direct to Cleveland, Tenn., Co. F, 36th Georgia - W. M. Cochran." Also included is the original stamped transmittal cover, addressed: "Miss. Eliza Jane Hardman, Stone Mountain, Georgia." Fully transcribed. Overall VG
