War-date Confederate cavalryman's letter, 1p. 8vo., written by Pvt. Horatio Nelson, Co. A, 4th Virginia Cavalry, "Camp 4th Cavalry, near orange Ct. H., March 20, 1864," to "Dear Jane," in part: "-I have been doing my utmost to get off to go [to] Richmond ever since I left home - the money that you have in the bank I will get Mr. Dunnington to attend to for me. We are exchanging prisoners now as fast as can be done. I am looking for Chancellor [Lieut. Col. Chancellor A. Nelson, 49th Virginia Infantry, POW Gettysburg] & Edwin [1st Lt. Edwin Nelson, Co. H, 15th Virginia Cavalry, POW June 15, 1863] accordingly. It is rumored that our Regt. will go to Richmond. In great haste. Your Brother, H. Nelson." Negligible ancestral library stamp, else VG
