The four souveniers are affixed to a Union ledger sheet, 9” x 13” titles “Quartermaster General’s Office, Richmond VA. The sheet was removed from a scrapbook belonging to Union Quartermaster A.B. Lawrence of the 24th Army Corps. The first three items are captured CSA covers which include: A yellow cover printed with an engraved image of President Jefferson Davis surrounded by CSA flkags and a military fort. It is addressed “His Excellnce Jefferson Davis, Richmond Va”, fine. ... the 2nd cover is imprinted “Confederate States of America, Presdident’s Office (Official Business) with period ID, “Envelope from Jefferson Davis’ office”. ... the 3rd cover is printed “Confedewrate States of America, Treasury Departmnnt” to which is affixed an authenticate cut signature, “G.A. Trenholm, Secretary of the Treasury”. ... plus, a 1” patriotic sticker of a CSA Flag surrounded by words, “Confederate States of America, Aide Toi Dieu Taidera” (translate to ‘help yourself, God will help you’”.
