The application was filed by Dorrette Blount Coleman on behalf of her Grandfather, Peter Monroe Blount who served in Co. F. Cahaba Rifles, 5th Alabama and was captured April 3, 1865, imprisoned at Point Lookout Prison and released July 1865. The Southern Cross of Honor was a commemorative medal established in 1899 by the United Daughters of the Confederacy to honor Confederate Veterans.
