A good war-date official Union army document setting the standards for guidons and camp colors and regimental band inspection, 1p. 8vo., War Department, Adjutant's General's office, Washington, D. C., Jan. 18, 1862, being General Orders No. 4, reading, in part: "Under instruction from the Secretary of War - guidons and camp colors for the Army will be made like the United States flag, with stars and stripes - inspectors general, while on their tours, will inspect the bands of all regiments, and discharge all men mustered therewith who are not musicians - By order of Major General McClellan: L. Thomas, Adjutant General." Near fine.
