Fascinating poetic pages taken from a ledger, 16pp., each 3-1/2" x 12". Alternate pages have manuscript poems, next page newspaper clipping and continue. One page is blank. The poems appear to be original, several have names. Very Union patriotic verses; "Where every man's a freeman in the light of freedom's day, Oh Dixie must we leave you driven by the tyrant's hand ..." Another is Titled "Doffing the Greys", and still another "The Wearing of Grey". Fascinating item. The clippings are 1861, the manuscripts vary 1861-1865.
