William Legge, 1st Earl of Dartmouth (14 October 1672 - 15 December 1750), was Lord Privy Seal from 1713 to 1714. He was a Hanoverian Tory, supporting the Hanoverian succession following the death of Queen Anne. Document Signed "Dartmouth", 1pp., Whitehall, Nov 3rd, 1710 written to George Smith who was just appointed Procurator General in the Admiralty. In part, "Her Majesty having yesterday ... grant to you the place of Proctor General ... I am commanded to acquaint you with it (warrant) ... that there may be no neglect of what relates to Her Majesty Service in the execution of that office."
