A pair of Confederate Naval Autograph Letters Signed, both written by "J(oel) S. Kennard" as commander Squadron pro tem, to J(ohn) K. Mitchell Chief Bureau Orders and Detail, Savannah, June 18, 1863, on lined sheets. The first, in large part, "If it be possible for me ... to obtain command of the CS Steamer Savannah, you will please consider me as an applicant for it." ... the second, in large part "Lieut. O.F. Johnson having been detached from the steamer Georgia, i have ordered Lieut. Comdg T.P. Pelit to the temporary command of the vessel."
