On this rare Maryland Soldier's Memorial is listed perhaps their most famous engagement of the war at Front Royal, Va. where in May 1862 they faced off against their sister Southern regiment, the 1st Maryland Confederate Infantry. A colorful red, white and blue printed lithograph, measuring approximately 18" x 22", published by Sarony, Major & Knapp, New York City, in 1863. A complete roster of Company C include remarks such as promotions and of the fate of its members in battle including being captured, wounded or killed. Examples include the deaths of both of the regiment's colonels, Nathan T. Dushane at the battle of Weldon RR, Va., on August 18, 1864, and John W. Wilson at Dabney Mills, Va., Feb. 6, 1865. Also included are the wounding of many. Two examples include Corporal Richard H. Edwards, at Dabney Mills, Va., Feb. 6, 1865 and Pvt. Michael Drost at Cold Harbor, Va., June 3, 1864.
