A Confederate officers 1pp. letter written by Charles D. Brown who enlisted as a Major. Datelined, Petersburg Sept. 3, 1864 to Captain Isaac Shelby. In large part, "When I wrote to you a few days ago I did not realize that Capt. Kenneworth had rec'd the amount due me from you. It has since come to hand all safe for which I am much obliged .... I am still flat on my back so you must excuse my writing in pencil."
