Chicago Tribune Press Photo, 10-1/2" x 8", October 6, 1938 showing Lou Gehrig in an argument with the umpire/ The news clip show a portion of this photo with the caption, "Lou Gehrig was called out on strikes by Umpire Moran in the eighth inning and he started an argument which ended when Coach Fletcher and Yankee players gathered around him. Fletcher is pulling Gehrig away from Moran." Also in the photo is #3 George Selkirk and Bill Dickey. Selkirk succeeded Babe Ruth in right field for the New York Yankees and inherited the Babe's coveted # 3 jersey (which was retired in 1948 when Ruth died). Dicky was inducted in the Hall of Fame 1954. Coach Art Fletcher began a 19-year tenure (1927-1945) as a coach for the Yankees, where, beginning with the legendary 1927 team, he would participate on ten American League pennant winners and nine World Series champions. Also in the photo is Cubs catcher Gabby Hartnett who played almost his entire career in Major League Baseball as a catcher with the Chicago Cubs, from 1922 to 1940. He behind the plate for Babe Ruth allegedly calling his shot during the 1932 World Series.
