Congressional imprint being a Message from the President of the United States on "LAWLESSNESS IN PARTS OF ARIZONA." 6pp. quarto, February 2, 1882, and mentions "The repression of lawlessness in Arizona and New Mexico is important as bearing not only upon the prosperity of those Territories, but upon the preservation of peace between the United States and Mexico, as the operations of the lawless bands referred to extend into Mexico..." and then quotes Governor Gosper, "Another cause of the troubles alluded to is the fact that the present sheriff of Cochise County and one of the Earp brothers, the latter being in some manner connected with the police force for the city of Tombstone, are candidates or aspirants for the sheriffship at the polls another season...From my last visit to Tombstone and vicinity, since the killing of the McLowerey boys and Clanta on the streets of Tombstone by the Earps, I gather the above and many other facts and beliefs..."
