Self cover 4pp. letter written by Anne Mashey to her brother, Dr. R.R McMeens, St. Clair Michigan. Dateline; Loch Huren, Oct. 22, 1848. In part, "I suppose you have heard that Mr had entered into partnership with Dr, but was soon dissolved as he could not be sent in safety two miles if there was a tavern in the way. For he would not be sufficiently sober to prescribe when he got there. He could of had a fine practice if he would have remained sober. ... Oh dear he has given me trouble by his nasty sprees. He would be carried home dead drunk and I would be compelled to lock him up for two or three days and then he would be so deathly sick - but when sober he is such a good hearted ..." The letter continues with family news.
