Unusual Spanish-American War soldier's art being a nice chess table inked on 20-1/2"x18-1/2" cloth by "Corporal Louie B. Thomas, Fort Snelling, Minnesota, Co. L, 8th U.S. Infantry Dec. 1898 May 1900, with various military themed images at margins, including the American flag "Long May She Wave" and the Cuban flag "CUBA LIBRE May 98". Framed. When the Spanish-American War broke out in 1898, seven companies of the 8th U.S. Infantry joined the First Brigade, 2nd Division of the Fifth Army Corps and participated in the assaults on Santiago.
