Platter, 15-1/2” x 12-1/2”, blue transfer of the Americans defeating the Mexicans. Following the tradition established in the wake of the Revolutionary War, British potters produced commemorative china for export to America that celebrated the victory achieved in the Mexican War. Specifically, the Mersey Pottery at Burslem produced a series of six views from that conflict marked “Texian Campaigne” along with the initials of the designer, J. B. They were produced in eight different colors on a variety of forms, detailed in Larsen's American Historical Views on Staffordshire China published in 1939. A fine example with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is some normal wear to the interior perimeter of the raised border. Ex Rex Stark Collection.
