The 3-page Union soldier's letter was written by Sullivan Amory Meredith who was commissioned colonel of the 1Oth Penn. regiment on April 26, I86I. In April he was assigned to McDowell's corps, with which he served in the second battle of Bull Run, where he was severely wounded. For gallantry in this engagement he was promoted Brigadier General of volunteers, to date from Nov. 29, 1862.
