Wayne, John (1907-1979) born, Marion Mitchell Morrison, nicknamed Duke, was an American actor and filmmaker. An Academy Award-winner for True Grit (1969), Wayne was among the top box office draws for three decades. Signed Lobby Card, “Good Luck, John Wayne,” on Cahill lobby card. Wayne is a widower and U.S. Marshal, away from home when his two sons Danny and Billy aid Abe Fraser (George Kennedy) and his gang to escape from jail and to rob a bank.
