Tourist Office, 7” x 5”, with description on the reverse, “The Excavated synagogue of Capernaum, site much revered in Gospel literature as the scene of Jesus meeting with his disciples and preaching to the surrounding population.” It was Jesus' second home and, during the period of his life, a garrison town, an administrative centre, and a customs station. Jesus chose his disciples Peter, Andrew, and Matthew from Capernaum and performed many of his miracles there. The gospel of John reveals that it was here in which Jesus taught that he was the true bread of life coming down out of heaven, after feeding the 5000 (John 6:59).
