Mounted Albuman Photograph, 9-1/2’ x 8”, to larger mount, credited in the negative “G.R. Suppman”. Slight chip to mount, image very good. The image of a funeral procession and American flag draped coffin as U.S. Naval Academy personnel escorting the body of John Paul Jones to a temporary brick vault at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis on April 24, 1906. President Theodore Roosevelt gave the eulogy for Jones during an April 24, 1906 commemorative ceremony. Roosevelt, ever the politician, used the pulpit as an opportunity to announce the expansion of the Navy. The grand ceremony was attended by thousand.
