First Edition Imprint titled, "An Appeal to the Justice and Interests of the People of Great Britain in the Present Dispute With America, by An Old Member of Parliament (Arthur Lee)," (Taxation Without Representation), Fine. Original Imprint housed in later marbled hardcovers, measuring 8" x 4.75", 63 pages Complete (plus some book advertisements at the end), with a bright red spine. Extremely clean and crisp and bright inside, with original text press embossing of the paper past the first three pages which show some light use. Rare, the only example we have offered. This remarkable American Revolutionary War era book deals with the British Taxation of America from a definite anti-tax and pro-representation position. One of the quotes in the front is from Lord Camden: "My researches have more and more convinced me that you have no right to tax America. -- I will maintain it with my last breath--taxation and representation are inseparable." This is a very important booklet and one which foresaw the results of the ill-conceived treatment of the American Colonies -- one of the root causes of the American Revolutionary War -- Taxation Without Representation. Evans 14147, Adams 132A, Sabin 39698, Howes L183.
