Framed Fireman's "Exempt Certificate, 22" x 28", uncolored with eight attractive vignettes of the fireman in action. This was issued in ink to Seward Tuenant, Schoharie, July 13, 1894. There is no printer ID. Water staining in the margin. Exempt Firefighter obtains an Exempt Certificate after seven (7) years duty from the municipality in which his/her fire company is operational and part of that fire department. This certificate is then filed with the County Clerk and entitles the firefighter to certain benefits by statute.
