PICKERING, Timothy (1745-1829) was a politician from Massachusetts who served in a variety of roles, most notably as the third United States Secretary of State under Presidents George Washington and John Adams. He also represented Massachusetts in both houses of Congress as a member of the Federalist Party.
After the war, Pickering moved to Pennsylvania and represented Luzerne County in the 1787 convention that ratified the Federal Constitution and in the state Constitutional Convention. This document is signed on page 2, from Luzerne County. Partly-printed Document Signed “T. Pickering” 4pp. folio, November 17, 1787, being a land grant for Cornelius Barnes of Philadelphia. Fine condition.
