Autograph Letter Signed by Major James Burnett who enlisted in the 6th Virginia on February 24, 1776, and was present with General Greene at the Battle of Guilford Court House, where he was wounded. This letter is 1p. folio, datelined “Hospital at Col. Pickens, March 23, 1781,” addressed to Colonel Lewis Morris, Jr., son of the signer, served as Aide-de-Camp to General Greene during the war. The letter reads: “...By the bearer, I find your horse, which was taken up by some of the Medical gentlemen on their way to this place as a stray. I arrived here on the evening after I left you and was a little relieved. Have no hopes of joining you soon. We are in tolerable quarters and secluded almost from the world. Present me respectfully to teh General, the family, and other gentlemen of my acquaintance...Should any things come from Col. Long for me, I beg you to take the trouble to save them for me...” Fine.
