Two Bound Volumes of Newspapers, National Intellgencer, Washington City, to include; July 20, 1811 through October 31, 1812 (not collated) approximately 200 issues (published Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday), four page format, VG....plus, November 6, 1813 through April 18, 1815, (not collated) approximately 200 issues (published Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday), four page format. The volume LACKS the Burning of Washington issues, 8/20/1814 through 9/11/1814, several issues have expected tears, VG. The National Intelligencer was the most influential newspaper in the capital city for most of the first half of the 19th century, known for its relatively objective coverage and verbatim printings of otherwise uncovered Congressional debates and speeches. The Intelligencer was noted for its war reporting and Presidential reporting including key proclamations and laws adopted. Additionally, the publication printed runaway slave ads in nearly every issue.
