Large engraving signed by perennial Presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan. Measures 19 1/2" x 25", excellent. At the upper left of the image is an "Copyright 1908 by William J. Campbell" imprint. At the lower right is "Engraved by W.H.W. Bicknell's, from a photograph by Alva C. Townsend of Lincoln, Neb." At the lower left it reads " Published by William J. Campbell, Philadelphia". Jennings has signed boldly in pencil at the lower left. These large engravings were used as Bryan's 1908 Presidential posters. Bryan ran on the Democratic ticket for President three times - 1896, 1900, and in 1908, failing to win each time. He did serve as President Wilson's Secretary of State from 1913 - 1915. Bryan might be best remembered as the prosecuting attorney in the July 1925 Tennessee vs. Scopes trial, better known as the "Scopes Monkey Trial". A wonderful large signed engraving.
