Colonial Period, British Military Contract Heavy Dragoon Variant Pattern Flintlock Holster Pistol by "I Watkin," London, c1730-40, Very Fine. Early British Military Contract Heavy Dragoon Variant Pattern Flintlock Holster Pistol made by "I WATKIN". It has a 12", .65 caliber (carbine bore) round steel barrel with two London Private Proofs and a "CROWN over F" (foreigners mark). Its wooden Stock has been repaired at the wrist, and the forend stabilized (restored) from the action of wood worms a couple centuries ago which adds to its appearance and authenticity. Brass furniture, measuring to 18.5" in overall length in good working order. Rare.
